Exhaust System, Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

• The exhaust system must be aligned when cold.

- Loosen the nut on the front clamp - 1 -.






- Position the clamp - 1 - so that dimension - a - at the mark on the pipe - 2 - is 5 mm and tighten the front nut hand tight. The - arrow - points in the direction of travel.

- Push the exhaust system as far forward until the dimension - a - on the outer retaining loop of the center muffler is 9 to 11 mm. The - arrow - points in the direction of travel.






- Tighten the front clamp nuts in this position uniformly to 25 Nm.

Tailpipe, Aligning

- Align the rear muffler so distance - a - between the bumper opening and right and left tailpipes is equal.






Distance - b - from the bumper opening to the tailpipe must be parallel.

- Loosen the rear muffler mounts to align the tailpipes, if necessary.
