Crankshaft Bearing Cap

Bolt 40 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn

Always replace.

Fully threaded.

Tighten to 40 Nm (but not any further) to measure the crankshaft radial play.

Bearing cap 1: Belt pulley side.







Main Bearing Shell, Allocation

From the factory, the upper bearing shells are allocated to the cylinder block with the correct thickness. Colored dots serve to identify the bearing thicknesses.

The letters marked on the lower sealing surface of the cylinder block identify which bearing thickness must be installed in which location.

G Yellow
B Blue
W White

Crankshaft/Upper Bearing Shell Marks





The - arrow - points in the direction of travel.

If the colored dots can no longer be seen, use the bearing shell with a blue dot.

The lower crankshaft bearing shells are always shipped as replacement part with the yellow colored dot.






Axial clearance:

New: 0.07 to 0.21 mm
Wear limit: 0.30 mm






Radial clearance:

New: 0.023 to 0.043 mm
Wear limit: 0.07 mm
