Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Disconnecting ] Disconnecting.

- Remove the bolt - 2 - and remove the clamping plate.






- Remove the battery - 1 -.

Installing

If the Battery is not secured properly, the following risks are possible:

Shortened battery service life due damage caused by vibration (explosion hazard).

If the battery is not secured properly, the plates inside the battery can get damaged.

Damage to the battery housing caused by bracket (possible electrolyte leakage, high subsequent costs).

Inadequate crash safety.

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ Battery Overview ] Battery Overview.

- Make sure the battery is secure after installing it.

- Connect the battery. Refer to => [ Connecting ] Connecting.

- After replacing, the battery must be adapted with the (Vehicle diagnostic tester)=> [ Battery, Adapting ] Programming and Relearning.
