Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Grease Cap Puller (VW 637/2)

Seal Installer (3241)

Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)

Ring Spanner Insert AF 21 (T10162)

Socket (T10162)

Removing

- Loosen the wheel bolts.

- Raise the vehicle.

- Remove wheel.

- Lightly tap the claw on the (VW 637/2) - 1 - to loosen the dust cap.






- Press of dust cap.






1. (VW 637/2)


- Remove brake carrier with brake caliper and hang on body with tie wire.

Suspend brake caliper from body.

- Remove the brake rotor bolt and the brake rotor.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - using the (T10162) - 2 -.






Never use an impact wrench when removing the bolt - 1 - using the (T10162) - 2 -!

- Remove the wheel hub/wheel bearing unit - 2 - from the stub axle.






Installing

- Carefully install the wheel hub/wheel bearing unit - 2 - onto the stub axle.






Make sure that the hubs/wheel bearing unit does not tilt!

- Install the new bolt - 1 - and tighten it to the tightening specification.

First tighten the bolt to the specification using the torque wrench.

Using a rigid wrench when tightening additionally.






Never use an impact wrench when tightening the bolt - 1 - using the (T10162) - 2 -!

- Install the new dust cap - 1 -.






Always replace dust caps.

Damaged dust caps allow moisture to enter. Therefore, always use the tool shown.

Further installation is in the reverse sequence to removal.

- Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specification ] Specifications.
