Front Brakes C60

After replacing brake pads, depress brake pedal firmly several times with vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.

Use brake charger/bleeder unit (VAS 5234) to extract brake fluid from brake fluid reservoir.

Before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose, the brake pedal actuator (V.A.G 1869/2) should be installed (relieve pressure).






1 Cover Plate

2 TORX(R) Bolt

12 Nm

3 Brake Disc

Internally vented, 340 mm diameter

Thickness: 30 mm

Wear limit: 27 mm

Must always be replaced together on both sides of axle

Remove brake caliper and brake carrier before removing

4 TORX(R) Bolt

4 Nm

5 Brake Carrier

Bolt to wheel bearing housing

6 Brake Pads

Thickness: 13 mm without backing plate

With brake pad wear indicator

When wear limit is reached (limit: approximately 4 mm), the warning lamp lights up in instrument cluster

Wear limit: 2 mm without backing plate

Check the thickness, refer to Maintenance Procedures

Must always be replaced together on both sides of axle

7 Brake Caliper

Do not disconnect the brake hose when replacing a brake pad

8 Self-Locking Bolt

35 Nm

Replace

9 Ribbed Bolt

200 Nm

Clean if using again.

10 Wheel Bearing Housing

With fastened brake carrier

11 Brake Hose with Ring Connection and Banjo Bolt

35 Nm

12 Clip

13 Bracket

14 Bolt

8 Nm
