Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)
• Illustrations depict right headlamp.
• The procedure is the same for the left headlamp.
When checking installation position of headlamp, determine that headlamp has no uneven gap dimensions to body, otherwise installation position must be corrected.
- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and move the ignition key or start button into the 0 position (preliminary engaged position).
- Remove the radiator grille.
- Loosen the front bumper cover.
- Loosen both bolts - arrows - on the front of the headlamp.
- Loosen both bolts - arrows -.
• The rear bolt can be reached through an opening in the body panel.
- Adjust the bolts so they are flush to the body by rotating the adjustment bushings in or out - arrow - on the headlamp.
- Tighten all the threaded connections to the specification shown in:
• 357=> [ Halogen Headlamps ] Halogen Headlamps or => [ HID Headlamps With Cornering Lamp ] HID Headlamps With Cornering Lamp
• 358 => [ Halogen Headlamps ] Halogen Headlamps or => [ HID Headlamps With Cornering Lamp ] HID Headlamps With Cornering Lamp
- Check and if necessary correct installation position of headlamp again for uniform gap dimension.
- Install the front bumper cover.
- Install the radiator grille.
- Check headlamp for function.
• If a headlamp is removed or adapted to the body, it must always be adjusted after installation or adaptation.
- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary. Refer to => Maintenance Procedures.
