Headlamps
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)
• It is not necessary to disconnect battery ground cable.
• Illustrations depict removal and installation of left headlamp.
• The procedure for removing and installing the right headlamp is the same.
• If one headlamp is removed, it must always be adjusted after installation.
Removal
- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.
• During removal and installation, leave the ignition key in the passenger compartment of the vehicle to prevent locking of the doors and automatic activation of the "Coming Home/Leaving Home" functions if applicable.
- Remove the radiator grille.
- Remove the front bumper cover.
- Release and disconnect the harness connector - arrow - on the back of the headlamp.
- Unscrew the mounting bolt - arrow - in the headlamp at the top.
- Unscrew the mounting bolts - arrows - in the headlamp at the bottom.
- Remove the headlamp - 1 - forward out of the body opening.
Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Tighten the mounting bolts to the specification shown in=> [ Halogen Headlamps Overview ] Halogen Headlamps Overview.
- Make sure the gap around the headlamp is even all the way around.
If headlamp has an uneven gap dimension to the body, installation position must be corrected. Refer to=> [ Halogen Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position ] Halogen Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position.
- After installation, check the headlamp functions.
• If one headlamp is removed, it must always be adjusted after installation.
- Check the headlamp adjustment and correct it if necessary.
