Front Brakes Overview, FNR-G
• After replacing the brake pads, press the brake pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
• Use the brake charger/bleeder unit (VAS 5234) or (V.A.G 1869/4) to extract brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir.
• Before removing a brake caliper or disconnecting a brake hose, the brake pedal actuator (V.A.G 1869/2) should be installed (to relieve pressure).
1 Cover Plate
2 TORX(R) Bolt
• 12 Nm
3 Brake Rotor
• Vented, 345 mm diameter.
• Thickness: 30 mm
• Wear limit: 27 mm
• Always replace on both sides.
4 TORX(R) Bolt
• 4 Nm
5 Bolt
• Clean if reusing.
6 Brake Carrier
• Bolted to the wheel bearing housing.
7 Brake Pads
• Thickness: 14 mm without the backing plate.
• With a wear indicator.
• When the wear limit is reached (limit: approximately 4 mm), the warning lamp lights up in instrument cluster.
• Wear limit: 2 mm without the backing plate.
• Always replace on both sides.

8 Spring
• Install the brake caliper housing and press it under the brake carrier.
9 Brake Caliper
• Do not remove the brake hose/brake line when changing the brake pads.
• Must not be separated from each other.
