Exhaust Gas Recirculation: Service and Repair






Exhaust Gas Recirculation System Component Overview

Replace the self-locking nuts, the seals, the gaskets and clamps.

Hoses are secured with spring type clamps.

Hose clip pliers (VAS 6362) or (VAS 6340) are recommended for installing spring clamps.






1 Gasket

Always replace.

Pay attention to the installed position.

2 Connecting Pipe

To remove and install, also loosen the adapter (- item 33 - in the => [ Turbocharger and Components Overview ] Turbocharger and Components Overview) at the turbocharger.

3 to the Adapter

See - item 33 - in the => [ Turbocharger and Components Overview ] Turbocharger and Components Overview.

4 Seal

Replace if damaged.

5 Bolt

8 Nm

6 Cooler

For the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) system.

7 Nut

23 Nm

Installed on the stud bolt (- item 17 - in the => [ Turbocharger and Components Overview ] Turbocharger and Components Overview on the turbocharger.

8 Control Line

23 Nm

Do not change the angles of the control line.

For the exhaust pressure sensor 1 installed location: near the oil filler tube.

To loosen at the EGR housing (- item 16 -) remove the EGR filter (- item 9) -.

Install without tension.

9 Filter

For EGR system.

10 Nut

23 Nm

Secures the control line to the exhaust manifold/turbocharger, with heat shield to the cylinder head stud.

11 to the Particulate Filter

12 Securing Clamp

3.5 Nm

Always replace.

Note the installed position, refer to => [ Clamps and Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor, Installed Position ] Service and Repair.

13 Bolt

23 Nm

14 Valve 2 for EGR (N213)

Mark the installed position before removing.

Always clean the fitting area on the valve and housing and lubricate lightly if necessary.

15 Coolant Hose

Make sure it is secure.

Coolant hose connection diagram. Refer to => [ Coolant Hose Connection Diagram ] [1][2]Cooling System.

16 Housing

For the EGR system.

17 EGR Temperature Sensor (G98)

20 Nm

Cut off the seal and replace if it is damaged or leaks.

Follow the tightening specification.

Removing and installing, refer to => [ EGR Temperature Sensor G98 ] Service and Repair.
