Fuel Tank and Attachments Overview
• The coupling must audibly engage when locking.
• Note the color coding when installing the coupling. Refer to => [ Coupling Allocation: ] Coupling, Disconnecting!
• Pull on the coupling to make sure it is secure.
• Disconnect the couplings. Refer to => [ Coupling, Disconnecting ] Coupling, Disconnecting.
• Hose connections are secured with either spring type or clamp type clamps.
• Replace the locking clamps with spring clamps.
• Spring type clip pliers (VAS 5024 A) or hose clip pliers (V.A.G 1921) are recommended for installing spring clamps.
1 Cap
2 Bolt
• 1.5 Nm
3 Ground Connection
• Make sure it is secure.
4 Bolt
• 10 Nm
5 Wiring Router
6 Fuel Tank
• Support the engine-/gearbox jack (V.A.G 1383 A) when removing.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel Tank.
7 Bolt
• 25 Nm
• Always replace.
8 Retainer
9 Securing Strap
• Pay attention to the installed position.
10 Heat Shield
• For the fuel tank.
11 Seal
• Replace if damaged
• To install, lubricate with fuel.
12 Fuel Delivery Unit
• With the fuel level sensor.
• Note the installed position of the flange to the fuel tank.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Fuel Delivery Unit.
• Checking the fuel pump. Refer to => [ Transfer Fuel Pump G6, Checking ] Transfer Fuel Pump G6, Checking.
• Fuel level sensor removing and installing. Refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor G ] Service and Repair.
13 Lock Ring
• 110 Nm
• Use the wrench (T10202) for removal and installation.
14 Supply line
• Black
• To the fuel filter.
• Clipped to the fuel tank.
• Make sure it is tight.
• To disconnect from the flange, press the release buttons on the coupling.
15 Return line
• Blue or with a blue mark.
• From the fuel cooler.
• Clipped to the fuel tank.
• Make sure it is tight.
• To disconnect from the flange, press the release buttons on the coupling.
16 Fuel Filler Door Unit
Installed Location of the Fuel Delivery Unit Flange
• Ignore the fuel level sensor 2 (second graphic)
The mark on the flange must align with the mark on the fuel tank - arrow - (first graphic).
• The mark on the fuel tank is difficult to see.
