• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Resetting & Extracting Tool (T 10165)
Removing
When removing, mark the brake pads in case they will be reused. Install them in the same position, otherwise the braking effect will be uneven!
- Remove the rear wheels.
- Counter hold the guide pins and remove the bolts from the brake caliper.
- Remove the brake caliper and secure it with wire so that the weight of the brake caliper does not burden or damage the brake hose.
- Remove the brake pads and the brake pad retaining plates - arrows -.
Cleaning
Do not use compressed air on the brake system, the dust produced is harmful to health!
- The contact surfaces between the brake pad retaining plates (brake pads) and brake carrier must be cleaned and any corrosion removed.
- Clean the brake caliper.
Use only appropriate solvents for cleaning brake caliper.
Installing
Before pressing the piston into the cylinder using the piston resetting tool, brake fluid must be extracted from the brake fluid reservoir. Otherwise, especially if the reservoir has been topped off, fluid will overflow and cause damage.
- Install the piston using the knurled wheel on the resetting & extracting tool (T 10165) by turning toward right. Do not damage the caps.
- Use the component part of T10165 tool (T10165/1) for assistance when installing.
• For pistons that are difficult to move, a 13 mm open end wrench can be used at the appropriate wrench surface - arrow A -.
- Insert the brake pad retaining plates - arrows - and brake pads in the brake carrier.
- Make sure that the brake pads are located correctly in the brake pad retaining plates - arrows -.
- Secure the brake caliper using new self-locking bolts.
- Install the wheels.
• The repair kit has 4 self-locking bolts for installing the brake caliper. Always use these.
• After replacing the brake pads, press the brake pedal firmly several times with the vehicle stationary so that the brake pads are properly seated in their normal operating position.
• Check the brake fluid level after replacing the brake pads.
