Bucket Seat Backrest Release Cable

• The following describes removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing

- Mount the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) on the engine and transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Attach the seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove front left bucket seat trim. Refer to => [ Left Bucket Seat Trim ] Left Bucket Seat Trim

- Remove the front seat belt latch:

• 2-door: => [ Belt Latch, 2-door ] Belt Latch, 2-Door

• 4-door: => [ Belt Latch, 4-door ] Belt Latch, 4-Door

- Remove front right bucket seat trim. Refer to => [ Right Bucket Seat Trim ] Right Bucket Seat Trim

- Remove front bucket seat backrest. Refer to => [ Front bucket seat backrest, removing and installing ] Front bucket seat backrest, removing and installing

- Remove cover and upholstery from front seat backrest, bucket seat. Refer to => [ Front Bucket Seat Backrest ] Front Bucket Seat Backrest

- Remove bolts - 1 -.






- Remove the upper section of the backrest release - 2 - in - direction of arrow -.

- Unclip the release cable - 2 - from the latch - arrow A -.






- Unclip the release cable - 2 - from the latch - arrow B -.

• Perform the following on both sides.

- Drill out the blind rivet head - 1 - on the backrest frame - 3 -.






- Remove the bolts - 2 - (24 Nm) and fold the backrest frame - 3 - forward in - direction of arrow -.

• The bolts are microencapsulated and must therefore be replaced after every removal.

• Before new bolts are installed, the counter thread of the corresponding nut must be cleaned.

- Remove the cable - 1 - from the plate.






- Push the cable eye - 2 - downward in - direction of arrow - and remove the cable from the pin - 4 -.

- Remove any remaining blind rivet - 3 -.






- Remove the front release - 1 - from the openings in the backrest frame - 2 -.

Installing

- Install in reverse order of removal.

• Use pop rivet pliers (VAS 5072) to remove the blind rivets.
