Instrument Panel Crossmember
Draw sketches or take pictures when loosening or removing and installing electrical wires. This ensures installation is the same as the original.
Removing
- Disconnect the battery.
- Remove the instrument panel. Refer to => [ Instrument Panel ] Instrument Panel
- Remove the wiper arms
- Remove the plenum chamber cover.
- Remove the plenum chamber bolt - 1 - (20 Nm).
- Remove both expanding pins - 3 - upward.
- Remove both expanding rivets - 2 -.
- Remove the intermediate pieces - 1 - and - 4 - from the A/C unit.
• When removing the crossmember, pay close attention to the position of the electrical wires and their mountings; if necessary make a sketch or take photographs.
- Disconnect the wiring harness - 1 - from the Anti-Theft Immobilizer Reading Coil (D2)
- Disconnect the steering column from the crossmember.
- Remove the wiring harness from the crossmember - arrows -.
- Remove the wiring bracket - 1 - on both sides of the vehicle from the crossmember - arrow -.
- Remove the right and left bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (20 Nm).
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (4.5 Nm).
- Remove both nuts - 3 - and - 4 - (9 Nm).
- Remove the bolts - 5 - and - 6 - (4.5 Nm).
- Remove both nuts - 7 - and - 8 - (8 Nm).
• Mark the height and side position of the crossmember in the vehicle around the nuts - 1 - and - 2 -.
- Remove the two nuts - 1 - and - 2 - (20 Nm) on the driver side.
• Mark the height and side position of the crossmember in the vehicle around the nut - 2 -.
- Remove the nut - 2 - (20 Nm) on the passenger side.
- Remove the harness connector mountings from the crossmember, depending on the equipment level of the vehicle.
- Pull the crossmember - 1 - 2 cm toward the rear.
- Remove bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (9 Nm).
- Remove the support panel - 3 - from the crossmember - 4 -.
• When removing the crossmember, pay close attention to the position of the electrical wires and their mountings; if necessary make a sketch or take photographs.
- With a second technician, carefully remove the crossmember - 4 - from the vehicle.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal.
• Before installing the crossmember, line it up with the markings made before it was removed.
