Engine, Installing

Perform the following:

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:


When doing any repair work, especially in the engine compartment, pay attention to the following due to clearance issues:

Route all lines and wires in their original locations.

Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.

During installation, all cable ties must be re-installed at the same location.

Secure all hose connections with hose clamps.

Use self-locking nuts.

Replace the bolts, which were tighten with an additional turn.

Always replace gaskets and seals.

Vehicles with a manual transmission

- Check clutch release bearing for wear and replace if necessary.

- Lightly grease the clutch release bearing, guide sleeve for release bearing and input shaft splines with Grease for grease for clutch disc shaft splines (G 000 100).

Continuation for all vehicles

- Make sure centering sleeves for engine to transmission are installed in cylinder block. Install if necessary.

- Engage intermediate plate at sealing flange and slide onto alignment bushings - arrows -.






- Make sure there is enough clearance for the driveshaft when installing the assembly.

- Adjust the subframe mount. Refer to => [ Subframe Mount, Adjusting ] Subframe Mount, Adjusting.

For the subframe mount tightening specifications, refer to => [ Subframe Mount Tightening Specifications ] Subframe Mount Tightening Specifications.

- Install the pendulum support. Refer to => [ Subframe Mount Tightening Specifications ] Subframe Mount Tightening Specifications.

- Install the right driveshaft and attach the left driveshaft to the transmission.

- Install front exhaust pipe => [ Exhaust Manifold, Front Exhaust Pipe with Catalytic Converter and Attachments Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.

- Install the A/C compressor.

- Install the the power steering pump.

- Install the ribbed belt. Refer to => [ Ribbed Belt, Removing and Installing ] Service and Repair.

Vehicles with a manual transmission

- Attach shift mechanism and, if necessary, adjust.

- Install clutch slave cylinder.

Vehicles with an automatic transmission

- Install selector lever cable and adjust if necessary.

Continuation for all vehicles

- Install battery

- Install the air filter => [ Air Filter, Assembly Overview ] Service and Repair.

- Fuel System, Bleeding. Refer to => [ Fuel System, Bleeding ] Service and Repair.

- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Draining and Filling ] Cooling System, Draining and Filling.

- Erase the adaptation values and adapt the engine control module to the throttle valve control module. Refer to => Vehicle Diagnosis Tester "Guided Functions".

- Perform a vehicle system test. Refer to => Vehicle Diagnosis Tester "Guided Fault Finding".

- End the vehicle system test in such a way that possibly existing DTC entries are automatically erased.

- Perform road test.

Follow all safety precautions that apply to road tests. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Safety Precautions.

- Perform the vehicle system test once again.

- Correct any faults.
