Headlamps

Headlamps

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)


• Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

• Remove the key.

• Removing and installing the left headlamp is shown in the illustrations. Removing and installing the right headlamp is identical.

• Check headlamp adjustment and adjust the headlamps. Refer to => [ Halogen Headlamp, Adjusting ] Halogen Headlamp, Adjusting.

Removing

- Remove the front bumper cover.

- Release and disconnect the connector from the headlamp.

- Remove the rear screw - 3 - from the headlamp.






- Remove the front screw - 1 - from the headlamp.

- Remove the top screw - 2 - from the headlamp.

- Remove the headlamp forward from the opening in the body.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

- First install the upper screw - 2 -.






- Then install the screw - 1 - on the front of the headlamp.

- Then install the screw - 3 - on the bottom of the headlamp.

- Connect and lock the connector to the headlamp.

- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ Halogen Headlamp Overview ] Halogen Headlamp Overview.

- Make sure the gap around the headlamp is even all the way around.

If the gap is uneven, then adjust the headlamp installed position. Refer to => [ Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position ] Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position.

- Check headlamp for functions.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust the headlamps. Refer to => [ Halogen Headlamp, Adjusting ] Halogen Headlamp, Adjusting.
