Removal and Replacement
Front Suspension and Control Arm Overview
• Welding and straightening work on supporting or wheel carrying components of the suspension is not permitted.
• Always replace self-locking nuts.
• Always replace corroded bolts/nuts.
• Bonded rubber bushings can only be turned to a limited extent. Therefore, the threaded connections of the components with bonded rubber bushings should only be tightened when the wheel bearing housing is lifted (curb weight position). Refer to => [ Wheel Bearing, Lifting to Curb Weight Position ] Procedures.
1 Bolts
• 15 Nm + 90° turn
• Always replace if removed.
2 Front Body
3 Suspension Strut
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Suspension Strut ] Front Suspension.
4 Nut
• 65 Nm
5 Bolt
• Bolt point must face in direction of travel.
6 Nut
• 70 Nm + 90° turn
• Always replace if removed.
7 Wheel Bearing Housing
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Wheel Bearing Housing.
• If the wheel bearing housing must be replaced, alignment must be checked afterwards. Refer to => [ Wheel Alignment, with Torsion Beam Rear Suspension ] Wheel Alignment, with Torsion Beam Rear Suspension or => [ Wheel Alignment, Vehicles with Multi-Link Rear Suspension ] Wheel Alignment, Vehicles with Multi-Link Rear Suspension.
• Various versions. Allocation, refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).
8 Nut
• 60 Nm
9 Ball Joint
• Checking, refer to => [ Ball Joint, Checking ] Procedures.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Ball Joint ] Removal and Replacement.
• Replace with control arm if damaged.
10 Nut
• 100 Nm
11 Control Arm
• Replace with ball joint if damaged.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Control Arm ] Control Arm.
• Removing and installing (left side of the vehicle with a DSG transmission or automatic transmission), refer to => [ Control Arm, Left Side of Vehicle with DSG or Automatic Transmission ] Control Arm, Left Side of Vehicle with DSG or Automatic Transmission.
12 Front Bonded Rubber Bushing
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Control Arm Front Bonded Rubber Bushing ] Control Arm Front Bonded Rubber Bushing.
13 Rear Bonded Rubber Bushing
