Undamaged Rear Window, Removing
Removing
- Remove left and right upper C-pillar trim.
- Remove the rear shelf.
- Remove the headliner near the rear window.
• If windshield is to be used again, make sure that electrical connections for windshield heating are not damaged.
- Disconnect connections for heated rear window and window antennas.
- Pull the cutting wire - 2 - inside through adhesive using awl (V.A.G 1474/2) - 1 -.
- Secure the cutting wire end with the pull handle (V.A.G 1351/1).
- Lay the cutting wire around the rear window and guide the second cord end toward the inside.
- Secure cutting wire end to the spooling tool (V.A.G 1654 A).
- Install the cover for dash panel (V.A.G 1474/8) - 1 - carefully between the rear window and the headliner.
- Position the reel device (V.A.G 1654 A) as illustrated.
- Move spooling tool (V.A.G 1654 A) according to position required and cut the rear window free.
- While cutting free, press cutting cord against window using plastic wedge (V.A.G 1474/5) in order to have clearance from window flange.
- To remove the rear window - 1 - open the rear lid - 2 - approximately 45°.
- Remove the rear window - 1 - from the body flange - arrow a - and move it under the rear lid - arrow b -.
