Fuel Tank and Attachments Overview
1 Bolt
2 Ground Connection
• Make sure the connection is secure.
3 Vacuum Line
• To the leak detection pump (V144).
• Not on the Jetta from MY 11.
4 Bolt
• 11 Nm
5 Rivet
6 Protective Plate
• Riveted to the lower clamp at the factory.
• When replacing the fuel tank, set the protective plate on the filler tube and rivet to the clamp (the holes on the protective plate must coincide with the holes on the filler tube).
7 Wiring Router
• For the Antilock Brake System (ABS) line.
• Clipped onto the protective plate.
8 Bolt
• 26 Nm
• Always replace.
• Only use bolts with loose washers to secure the fuel tank straps. The straps could twist when the bolts are tightened if other bolts are used.
9 Fuel Tank
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Tank ] Fuel Tank.

12 Tensioning Strap
• Pay attention to the installed position.
13 Heat Shield
14 Supply Line
• To the fuel rail.
• Make sure the line is secure.
15 Fuel Filter
• Installed position: The arrow points in the direction of flow.
• Fuel filter overview. Refer to => [ Fuel Filter Overview ] Fuel Filter Overview.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Filter ] Fuel Filter.
16 Vacuum Line
• From the leak detection pump to the intake manifold.
• Attached to the fuel tank.
• Make sure the line is secure.
• Not on the Jetta from MY 11.
17 Vent Line
• From the Evaporative Emission (EVAP) canister to the EVAP canister purge regulator valve 1 (N80).
• Attached to the fuel tank.
• Make sure the line is secure.
18 Seal
• Always replace.
• Install the seal into the fuel tank opening dry.
• Only lubricate the inner part with fuel when installing the fuel delivery unit.
19 Fuel Delivery Unit
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit ] Service and Repair.
• Fuel pump, checking. Refer to => [ Fuel Pump, Checking ] Fuel Pump, Checking.
• Note the install position in the fuel tank, refer to => [ Fuel Delivery Unit, Installed Position ].
• With the fuel level sensor (G)
• fuel level sensor, removing and installing. Refer to => [ Fuel Level Sensor (G) ] Service and Repair.
• Clean the strainer if it is contaminated.
20 Lock Ring
• 110 Nm
• Make sure the lock ring is secure.
• Use the wrench (T10202) for removal and installation.
21 Return Line
• Blue
• Attached to the side of the fuel tank.
• Make sure the line is secure.
22 Cap
• Engine codes BGP and CBTA: Screw connection.
• Engine codes BGQ and CBUA: Bayonet connection.
• Replace the seal if damaged.
23 Fuel Filler Door Unit
• With a rubber cup.
• Removing and installing.
24 to the EVAP Canister
25 Supply Line
• Black
• Attached to the side of the fuel tank.
• Make sure the line is secures
Fuel Delivery Unit, Installed Position
The tab - 2 - on the fuel delivery unit must lie between tabs - 1 and 3 -.
• The - arrow - points in the direction of travel.
• The fuel delivery unit can only be installed in this position.
