Drip Rail

Removing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Adjustment gauge (3371)






Hot air gun (V.A.G 1416)

Adhesive strip remover (VAS 6349)

Perform the following:

- Pry the drip rail - 1 - out of the retaining strip starting at the top - arrow -.






- Warm the adhesive tape on the retaining strip for the front fender - 2 - with a hot air gun (V.A.G 1416) and carefully peel it off.

Installation

Assembly Information

If removing the drip rail, only use the adhesive remover (D 002 000 10) to remove the adhesive residue.

Remove any adhesive residue left by the tape using adhesive remover (VAS 6349).

Make sure there is no dust or grease on the adhesive surfaces.

Apply the drip rail immediately after cleaning.

Only remove the protective film right before assembly.

The temperature must be approximately 70 °F (21 °C).

Perform the following:

Follow the installation instructions.

Refer to the Technical Product Information (TPI) 2026008/2.

- Check the distance - a - over the entire length of the retaining strip - 1 - using adjustment gauge (3371).






Distance - a - between the - arrows -: 0.9 to 1.1 mm

- If the measured distance on the retaining strip - 1 - is different than the specified value, then it is necessary to adapt the distance - arrows -, for example, with a plastic wedge - 2 - and hammer - 3 -.






- Check the distance - a - over the entire length of the retaining strip - 1 - after the adapting using adjustment gauge (3371).






Distance - a - between the - arrows -: 0.9 to 1.1 mm

- Press the drip rail - 1 - onto the retaining strip - 5 - starting at the top - arrow -.






The drip rail - 1 - must not protrude above the edge of the roof. This will create wind noise.

- Fold the lip on the drip rail - 3 - behind the edge of the windshield - 4 -.

- Attach the tape on the retaining strip to the front fender - 2 - as follows.

- Press the drip rail - 1 - on the inside - arrow a - to make it easier to remove the protective film from the front fender.






- Peel off the protective film - 2 - in - direction of arrow b - and press the drip rail onto the front fender.
