Front Seat Cushion, Cover and Upholstery

• The following describes removing and installing components on the left seat. Removing and installing components on the right seat is identical.


If the front seat cushion padding on the front passenger side is replaced, replace the front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128) and passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) on USA vehicles.

Removing

- Install the (VAS 6136) on the (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Secure the seat on the (VAS 6136).

- Remove front belt latch. Refer to => [ Front Belt Latch ] Front Belt Latch.

- Remove the right trim on the seat. Refer to => [ Right Seat Trim ] Right Seat Trim.

Vehicles with Manual Seat Adjustment

- Remove the left trim on the seat:

• Remove the left trim on the seat without height adjustment. Refer to => [ Left Seat Trim without Height Adjustment ] Left Seat Trim without Height Adjustment.

• Remove the left trim on the seat with manual height adjustment. Refer to => [ Left Seat Trim with Manual Height Adjustment ] Left Seat Trim with Manual Height Adjustment.

- Remove the bracket and the lever on the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat Bracket and Operating Lever ] Front Seat Bracket and Operating Lever.

Vehicles with Power Seat Adjustment

- Remove the left trim on the seat with power height adjustment. Refer to => [ Left Seat Trim with Power Height Adjustment ] Left Seat Trim with Power Height Adjustment.

- Remove the bracket on the power seat. Refer to => [ Power Seat Bracket ] Power Seat Bracket.

All Vehicles

- Remove the mount for the drawer (if equipped) on the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat Drawer with Bracket ] Front Seat Drawer with Bracket.

- Remove the front seat backrest. Refer to => [ Front Seat Backrest ] Front Seat Backrest.

- Loosen the retaining channel - 1 - from the seat frame - 2 -.

- Loosen the retaining channel - 4 - on all sides of the seat frame - 2 -.

- Loosen the wiring harnesses from the seat frame on vehicles with seat heating and passenger occupant detection system.

- Remove front seat cover and cushion - 6 - and the seat frame - 2 -.

- Remove the cover from the front seat cushion - 3 - in direction of - arrow -.






- Fold up the outside of the cover - 1 - off the front seat cushion - 2 - in direction of - arrow -.

- Remove the clips - 1 - from the cushion - area 4 -.

- Remove all the upholstery clips - 1 - in - area 3 -.

- Remove the cover - 1 - from front seat cushion - 2 -.






Vehicles with Passenger Occupant Detection System and Seat Heating


Do not disconnect the front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128) - 1 -, or the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) - 4 - (USA vehicles only), the seat heating element - 3 - and the front seat cushion - 2 -.

If one of the mentioned components is faulty, then all the components must be replaced.

• When installing the individual components, make sure the front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128) - 1 - is installed under the seat heating element - 3 - and the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452) - 4 - (USA vehicles only) is always installed over the seat heating element - 3 -.

• Install the front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128).

• Install the passenger occupant detection system pressure sensor (G452).






Installation

- Install the cushion - 5 - on the seat frame.

- Attach the cover - 1 - to the cushion - 5 - with the clips - 4 -.

- Attach the cover - 1 - to the cushion - 4 - with new upholstery clips - 2 - at the shown locations - 3 - using the (V.A.G 1634).






Further assembling is in reverse order of removal.
