Clutch Hydraulic System: Service and Repair
Clutch System, Bleeding
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Brake Charger/Bleeder Unit (VAS 5234) or (V.A.G 1869)
• It is not necessary to pre-fill the system.
Perform the Following Procedure:
- Remove the air filter housing if the bleed valve - arrow - is not accessible.
- Connect the (VAS 5234) or the (V.A.G 1869).
Use the bleeder hose (670 mm) (V.A.G 1238/B3).
- Connect the hose to the brake bleeder unit collector bottle.
- Attach the hose to the bleed valve - arrow -.
- Apply 2 bar pressure to the system.
- Open the bleed valve.
- Let approximately 100 cm3 of brake fluid flow out.
- Close the bleed valve.
- Press the clutch pedal rapidly from stop to stop, 10 to 15 times.
- Open the bleed valve again.
- Let another 50 cm3 of brake fluid flow out.
- Close the bleed valve.
- Press the clutch pedal a few times after bleeding the system.
- If removed, install the air filter housing.
