Rear Lid, Removing and Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Removing






- Remove the rear lid trim panel.

- Disconnect the connectors from any electrical components.

- Unclip the cable guide from the hinge. Refer to => [ Rear Lid Hinge Fasteners Assembly Overview ] Rear Lid Hinge Fasteners Assembly Overview.

- Remove the electric wires - 2 - with the rubber grommet - 3 - out of the rear lid - 1 -.

- Loosen, but do not remove, the bolts - 5 - on the left and right hinges - 4 -.

A second technician is required for the rest of the removal procedure.

- Remove the bolts - 5 - and the rear lid - 1 -.

Installation

Perform a function test on the unlocking components before closing the rear lid.






- Install the rear lid - 1 - with a second technician.

- Guide the electric wires - 2 - into the rear lid - 1 - and install the rubber grommet - 3 -.

- Connect the connectors from any electrical components.

Bolt - 3 - tightening specification: 12 Nm

Install in reverse order of removal.

- Clip the cable guide into the hinge. Refer to => [ Rear Lid Hinge Fasteners Assembly Overview ] Rear Lid Hinge Fasteners Assembly Overview.

- Adjust the rear lid. Refer to => [ Rear Lid, Adjusting ] Rear Lid, Adjusting.
