Engine, Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:

Servicing the Clutch

- Make sure the alignment sleeves for centering the engine/transmission are installed inside the cylinder block. Install them if necessary.

Installing the Manual Transmission to the Engine











Installing the DSG(R) to the Engine











with a Manual Transmission

- Install the hydraulic line to the hydraulic clutch.

- Install the transmission shift mechanism and adjust if necessary.

- Bleed the clutch.

with a DSG(R)

- Install the transmission selector lever cable and adjust it if necessary.

Continuation for All

- When installing the engine/transmission subassembly make sure there is enough clearance for the subframe and radiator.

- Adjust the engine and transmission mounts. Refer to => [ Engine and Transmission Mount, Adjusting ] Adjustments.

Make sure the particulate filter is not under stress when installed.

Replace the self-locking nuts, the seals, the gaskets and clamps.

Danger of causing damage to the coupling element behind the particulate filter when removing and installing:

Do not bend the coupling element more than 10°. Secure it with the transportation lock (T10404).

Do not stretch the coupling element.

Do not damage the wire mesh on the coupling element.

- Install the drive axles.

- Install the right drive axle heat shield and bolts - 1 -.






- Install the subframe.

- Install the Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor.

- Install the battery tray and battery.

- Observe the safety precautions after connecting the battery.

- Fill the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Procedures.

- Fill and bleed the fuel system. Refer to => [ Fuel System, Filling and Bleeding ] Fuel System, Filling and Bleeding.

- Check all Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memories and erase all DTC entries which may have occurred during the assembly. Refer to "OBD" in the vehicle diagnostic tester.

Tightening Specifications






1 Tightening specification for a M12 collar bolt: 75 Nm
