Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair
Mass Airflow Sensor G70
Removing
- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Carefully remove Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor out of guide on the air filter housing.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. When doing this note the following:
• Tightening specification, refer to => [ Air Filter Housing Overview ] Air Filter Housing Overview.
Observe the following to ensure the MAF sensor functions correctly.
• In the event the air filter element is severely contaminated or completely saturated, dirt particles or moisture may penetrate the MAF sensor and falsify the measured air mass value. This results in a reduction of power, since a lower injection quantity is calculated.
• Use an original equipment air filter.
• Always replace damaged rings.
• Use a silicone free lubricant when installing the air guide hose and seal.
• The hose connections as well as the air guide pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.
• Secure hose connections with standard production clamps. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
- Check the MAF sensor and air guide hose (intake air side) for salt residue, dirt and leaves.
- Check the intake passages up to the air filter element for dirt. If any contaminants are discovered, clean the air filter housing (upper and lower) of salt residue, dirt and leaves (if necessary, clean by washing or vacuuming).
- Install the air filter housing. Refer to => [ Air Filter Housing ] Air Filter Housing.
