Electrical Component Locations Overview
- Touch a grounded object before working on electric components. Do not touch the connector or open electronic components directly.
1 Transmission Control Module (J217)
• The control module sends and receives data from the Data bus.
• Installed location, refer to => [ TCM ].
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
2 Diagnostic Connection
• Installed location, refer to => [ Diagnostic Connection ].
3 Shift Lock Solenoid (N110)
• Installed location: is integrated permanently inside the selector mechanism and cannot be replaced separately.
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
4 Multifunction Transmission Range Switch (F125)
• Installed location, refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch ].
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch F125 ] Service and Repair.
• Adjusting. refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch F125, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
5 Valve Body
• Installed location, refer to => [ Valve Body ].
• The components can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
• Allocation. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Valve Body ] Service and Repair.
6 Sensor Wiring Harness
• With the transmission fluid temperature sensor.
• Installed location, refer to => [ Sensor Wiring Harness ].
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wiring Harness, Sensors ] Wiring Harness, Sensors.
• Allocation. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
7 Solenoid Valve Wiring Harness
• Installed location, refer to => [ Solenoid Valve Wiring Harness ].
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wiring Harness, Solenoid Valves ] Wiring Harness, Solenoid Valves.
• For the correct allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.
8 Handle with Cover
• The selector lever scale illumination bulb is integrated inside the cover.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle and Cover ] Selector Lever Handle and Cover.
9 Selector Mechanism with Selector Lever Cable
• With an integrated selector lever sensor system control module with selector lever, Tiptronic switch, selector lever park position lock switch and selector lever solenoid.
• Installed location: The components are permanently integrated in the selector mechanism circuit board and cannot be replaced separately.
• The components can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
• The selector mechanism must be replaced if a component is faulty. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism ] Selector Mechanism.
• The selector lever cable can only be replaced together with the selector mechanism.
10 Transmission Input Speed Sensor (G182)
• Installed location, refer to => [ Transmission Input Speed Sensor and Transmission Output Speed Sensor ].
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Transmission Input Speed Sensor G182 ] Transmission Input Speed Sensor G182.
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
11 Transmission Output Speed Sensor (G195)
• Installed location, refer to => [ Transmission Input Speed Sensor and Transmission Output Speed Sensor ].
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Transmission Output Speed Sensor G195 ] Transmission Output Speed Sensor G195.
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
12 Transmission Range Display (Y6)
• Installed location: The transmission range display - arrow - is integrated inside the instrument cluster.
• Can only be replaced together with the instrument cluster.
13 Kick Down Switch (F8)
• Not a separate component, assumes the function of the accelerator pedal position sensor and the accelerator pedal position sensor 2, both are integrated in the accelerator pedal module, installed location, refer to => [ Kick Down Switch ].
• Signal received in the Engine Control Module (ECM).
• Signal transmitted from the ECM to the Transmission Control Module (TCM) via the CAN bus.
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
14 Brake Lamp Switch (F)
• Installed location, refer to => [ Brake Lamp Switch ].
• Can be checked in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
TCM
Installed location: The TCM - A - is located in the front of the engine compartment on the left side next to the battery.
TCM, removing and installing:
- Unclip the TCM - A - from the bracket and remove it upward.
- Disconnect the connector from the TCM.
Install in the reverse order of removal.
Multifunction Transmission Range Switch
Installed location: The multifunction transmission range switch is located on the upper side of the transmission.
Valve Body
Installed location: The valve body is bolted to the underside of the transmission housing and is covered by transmission fluid pan.
The solenoid valves (N88) , (N89) , (N90) , (N91) , (N92) , (N93) , (N282) and (N283) are attached to the valve body.
Sensor Wiring Harness
• With an integrated transmission fluid temperature sensor - arrow -
• Check the transmission fluid temperature sensor in "Guided Fault Finding" using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
Installed location: The wiring harness is secured to the valve body in the transmission.
Solenoid Valve Wiring Harness
Installed location: The wiring harness is secured to valve body in the transmission.
Transmission Input Speed Sensor and Transmission Output Speed Sensor
Installed location: inside the transmission housing above the valve body.

Diagnostic Connection
Installed location: The diagnostic connection - arrow - is located under the driver side storage compartment on the left side.
Kick Down Switch
A programmed value from the accelerator pedal position sensor and accelerator pedal position sensor 2 (integrated in the accelerator pedal module) are saved in the ECM as a kick-down signal.
• Signal transmitted from the ECM to the TCM via CAN bus.
