Radio/Navigation Systems

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Removal Wedge (3409)

Always read the information for each unit when removing and installing:

Removing

Perform the following before starting:

- Remove and CDs or DVDs still inside the radio/RNS. Refer to the Owner's Manual.

- Activate the Premium 8 transportation lock if necessary, refer to => [ Activating transportation
safeguard ] Premium 8 Sound System

- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the key.

Be careful not damage any components (switches, covers, trim pieces, etc.) when visually inspecting.

Tape off any areas where the (3409) , or screwdriver will be used for prying.

Perform the following:

- Pry out and remove the trim from the instrument panel - arrows - using (3409).

- Disconnect the connector from the front passenger airbag disabled indicator lamp (K145).

- Insert the clips on the trim into the mounts on the instrument panel, if necessary.






- Remove the screws - arrows - from the radio/RNS.






- Pull the radio/RNS out of the installation slot in - direction of arrow - just far enough until the connectors on the back of the radio/RNS are accessible.

1. Multipin connector, Quadlock

2. Antenna connector for satellite radio (SDARS (satellite digital audio radio service)

3. Antenna connector for radio reception (AM/FM)


The number of connectors and their installed locations can differ between the different radio/RNS versions.

- Squeeze the connector lock on the quadlock in direction of the - arrows -.






- Move the locking bracket in direction of - arrow - up and disconnect the connector.






The number of antenna connections on the unit can differ between the different radio/RNS versions.






- Disconnect the connectors - arrows - from the antenna connections.

Installing

- Connect the connectors to the radio/RNS.

Never push directly on the display or the buttons when inserting the radio/RNS.

- Insert the radio/RNS straight into the instrument panel.

- Secure the radio/RNS with the 4 screws - arrows -, 1.5 Nm.






- Connect the connector to the front passenger airbag disabled indicator lamp (K145).

- Install the instrument panel trim.

- Deactivate the transportation safeguard, if necessary, refer to => [ Deactivating transportation
