Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)











Removing

- Remove the rear lid trim panel.

- Disconnect the connector - 4 - from the button - 2 -.

- Remove the nuts - 3 - from the threaded pins on the button and then remove the cover - 1 - upward.

- Remove the button - 2 - from the rear lid.

It is not possible to open the rear lid using the emergency release if there is an electric malfunction (Item 5)=> [ (Item 5) Emergency release ] Rear Lid Latch Assembly Overview. There is an opening in the rear lid trim panel to reach the emergency release.

Installation

Install in reverse order of removal.

Nut tightening specification: 6 Nm

• Perform a function test on the unlocking components before closing the rear lid.
