Cooling System






Coolant Hose Connection Diagram

When the engine is warm the cooling system is under pressure. If necessary release pressure before beginning any repair work.

Install only approved clamps for securing hose connections. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

Use spring-type clip pliers to installing spring clips.

Always replace gaskets and seals.

The arrows on coolant pipes and coolant hoses must line up across from each other.






1 Radiator

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Radiator ] Service and Repair.

Replace the coolant after replacing.

2 Coolant Line

3 Intake Manifold

4 Coolant Pump and Coolant Thermostat

Coolant pump removing and installing. Refer to => [ Coolant Pump ] Coolant Pump.

Thermostat, removing and installing. Refer to => [ Coolant Thermostat ] Coolant Thermostat.

Checking the thermostat => [ (Item 17) Coolant Thermostat ] Coolant Pump and Thermostat Overview.

5 Front Coolant Line

Secured to the accessory bracket.

6 Expansion Tank

With sealing cap.

Pressure relief valve in cap, checking. Refer to => [ Cooling System, Checking for Leaks ] Testing and Inspection.

7 Rear Coolant Pipe

8 Cylinder Head/Cylinder Block

Replace the coolant after replacing.

9 Coolant Thermostat Housing

10 Heater Core

Replace the coolant after replacing.

11 Transmission Oil Cooler

Only for vehicles with a automatic transmission.

12 Bypass Thermostat

Only for vehicles with a automatic transmission.

The throttle valve control module heated by the coolant has been discontinued.
