Front Side Airbag

• Removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle is described here. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing

The general safety precautions for working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnic components) must be observed. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic Components Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

- Disconnect the battery.

- Remove the left front seat.

- Remove the right trim on the seat.

Vehicles with Manual Seat Adjustment

- Remove the left trim on the seat.

Vehicles with Electric Seat Adjustment

- Remove the left trim on the seat with power height adjustment. Refer to => [ Left Seat Trim with Power Height Adjustment ] Left Seat Trim with Power Height Adjustment.

All Vehicles

- Remove the front seat backrest.

- Remove the cover and the backrest cushion. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Cushion ] Backrest Cover and Cushion.

- Disconnect the connector - 5 - from the side airbag - 4 -.

- Remove the bolt - 3 - (9 Nm).

- Remove the retainer - 1 - for the side airbag - 4 - from the backrest frame - 2 -.

- Remove the side airbag - 4 - from the backrest frame - 2 -.






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Turn on the ignition.

Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect the battery.
