Clutch Pedal Position Sensor / Switch: Service and Repair






Clutch Position Sensor G476

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and disconnect the battery ground cable.

- Remove the engine cover with air filter.

- Remove the battery and the battery tray.

- Clamp off the supply hose - A - to the clutch master cylinder using a hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094).






It is necessary to remove the noise insulation - B - as follows from the bulkhead in order to access the clutch position sensor:

- Remove the retainer - C -.

- If necessary, release and disconnect the connector.

- Fold the noise insulation - B - near the clutch master cylinder forward in the - direction of the arrow -.

It is not necessary to remove the noise insulation - B - completely.

Be careful not to get any brake fluid on the longitudinal member or on the transmission when performing the following work. If it does, clean the areas thoroughly.

Place a lint free cloth under the clutch master cylinder.

If a hose/line assembly - 1 - with a round component is installed directly below the clutch master cylinder, the hose/line assembly must be removed.






- Pull out the clip - 2 - using a screwdriver or pointed tool and from the clutch master cylinder.

- Disconnect the hose/line assembly - 3 - or pipe from the clutch master cylinder and seal it.

- Disconnect the connector - 4 -.

- Remove the clutch position sensor from the clutch master cylinder - arrow -.

Ignore item - 1 -.

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Allocate all components according to the Parts Catalog.

If the hose/line assembly or pipe line was removed:

- Install the hose/line assembly - 1 - or pipe with a new seal - 2 - into the master cylinder connection - 4 - until the clip - 3 - audibly engages.






- Pull on the hose/line assembly or pipe to make sure it is secure.

- Remove the hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094). After removing the hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094) bring the supply hose back to its original shape.

- Bleed the hydraulic system. Refer to => [ Hydraulic System, Bleeding ] Procedures.

- Install the battery tray and the battery.

- Install the engine cover with air filter.
