Antenna System Component Location Overview
Antenna System Component Location Overview
The antennas are integrated inside the heated rear window (Z1) and roof antenna (RX5).
The antenna system consists of the following parts:
• Antenna (R11) (AM/FM1) inside the rear window defogger (Z1) right
• Radio antenna 2 (R93) (FM2) inside the rear window defogger (Z1) left
• Satellite tuner antenna (R172) (SDARS) inside the roof antenna (RX5) (depending on the vehicle equipment level)
• GPS antenna (R50) (GPS) inside the roof antenna (RX5) (depending on the vehicle equipment level)
The antenna system includes a "diversity function" integrated in the Radio/RNS (RX1). The "diversity feature" improves and optimizes the reception quality inside the vehicle.
1 Radio/RNS (RX1)
• Depending on the vehicle equipment level
2 Antenna Wire
• Between the antenna (R11) and the radio/RNS (RX1)
3 Roof Antenna (RX5)
• Depending on the vehicle equipment level
• With the GPS antenna (R50)
• With satellite tuner antenna (R172)
4 Right Antenna Module (R109)
• For AM/FM1 reception
• Diversity antenna FM1
• Impedance converter
• Installed on the right C-pillar
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Antenna Module ] Service and Repair.
5 FM Frequency Filter In Positive Wire (R179)
• Prevent the antenna signals from shorting to the positive
• Installed inside the wiring harness behind the right C-pillar trim.
6 Line Connections, Positive
7 Rear Window Defogger (Z1) with
• Antenna (R11) for AM/FM1
• Radio antenna 2 (R93) for FM2
8 Line Connection, Negative
9 FM Frequency Filter In Negative Wire (R178)
• Prevent the antenna signals from shorting to the ground
• Installed inside the wiring harness behind the left C-pillar trim.
10 Left Antenna Module (R108)
• For FM2 reception
• FM2 diversity antenna
• Impedance converter
• Installed on the left C-pillar
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Antenna Module ] Service and Repair.
11 Antenna Wire
• Between radio antenna 2 (R93) and the radio/RNS (RX1)
12 Antenna Wire
• Between the roof antenna (RX5) and the radio/RNS (RX1)
• Familiarity with the function and operation of the parking aid is essential when addressing customer complaints.
• Additional information, refer to the Owner's Manual,.
• Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester for Servicing or Troubleshooting.
• Check all vehicle equipment (clock, Convenience System, etc.) after connecting the battery.
A new repair concept has been developed for repairing antenna wires. Instead of a complete antenna wire, connecting wires of different lengths and various adapter leads are now available as replacement parts.
