Hood: Adjustments
Hood, Adjusting
• The vehicle must be on the ground when adjusting the hood.
• The left and right buffers - 2 - are not for adjusting. They stabilize the hood.
• The hood is properly adjusted when there is an overall even gap dimension when closed. It is not too far inward or outward and contours align. The contours line up.
• The hood must latch without much force into the hood latch.
• Do not remove the bolts - 4 -. Only loosen them.
Perform the following:
- Remove the hood catch - 1 -. Refer to => [ Hood Striker Pin ] Hood Striker Pin.
- Loosen, but do not remove, the left and right bolts - 4 - on the hood hinge - 4 - and then align the hood between the fenders.
- Make sure the gap dimensions are even.
- Apply corrosion protection to the hood hinges - 4 - and bolts - 3 - after adjusting.
- Turn the adjusting buffer - 2 - - arrow - to adjust.
- Install and adjust the catch - 1 - after adjusting the hood. Refer to => [ Striker Pin, Adjusting ] Striker Pin, Adjusting
- The height of the front of the hood can be adjusted in relation to the fenders using the adjusting buffers - 5 -. Refer to => [ Hood Latch, Adjusting ] Hood Latch, Adjusting.
