Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Engine/transmission jack (V.A.G 1383 A)

Locating pins (T10096)

Locating pins (T10452)

Perform the following:

The locating pin (T10096) and locating pins (T10452) have different diameters.

The color differentiates them:

Locating pins (T10096) are BLACK.

Locating pins (T10452) are SILVER.

To locate subframe, locating pins (T10452) must be screwed in one after the other on both sides of the vehicle at positions - 3 - and - 4 -.






Locating pins (T10452) may only be tightened to a maximum of 20 Nm, since otherwise the threads of the locating bolts will be damaged.

The locating pins (T10096) must be installed in locations - 1 - and - 2 - one after the other.

Locating pins (T10096) may only be tightened to a maximum of 20 Nm, since otherwise the threads of the locating bolts will be damaged.

Installing Locating Pins (T10452)






- Remove the front bolt - 3 -.

- Install the locating pin (T10452) - 1 - and tighten it to 20 Nm.






Locating pins (T10452) are SILVER.

- Remove the front bolt - 4 -.






- Install the locating pin (T10452) and tighten it to 20 Nm.

Installing Locating Pins (T10096)






- Remove the rear bolt - 1 -.

- Install the locating pin (T10096) - 1 - and tighten it to 20 Nm.






Locating pins (T10096) are BLACK.

- Remove the rear bolt - 2 -.






- Install the locating pin (T10096) and tighten it to 20 Nm.

Position of front axle is now secured.

Continue removing the subframe without the steering gear. Refer to => [ Subframe without Steering Gear ] Service and Repair.

Continue removing the subframe with the hydraulic steering gear. Refer to => [ Subframe and Steering Gear, Hydraulic Steering Gear ] Subframe and Steering Gear, Hydraulic Steering Gear.

Continue removing the subframe with the electro-mechanical steering gear. Refer to => [ Subframe and Steering Gear, Electro-Mechanical Steering Gear ] Subframe and Steering Gear, Electro-Mechanical Steering Gear.

Continue with removing stabilizer => [ Stabilizer Bar ] Stabilizer Bar.

Power Steering Gear, Removing and Installing.

Remove The Locating Pin (T10096) And Locating Pin (T10452).

Remove the locating pin (T10096) and locating pin (T10452) in reverse order of installing.
