1/3-Backrest Cover and Cushion

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Upholstery clip pliers (V.A.G 1634)

Release lever (T10039)

The illustration show the attaching points for the upholstery clips - 1 - in the Comfort version and - 2 - in the Sport version.

The following describes removing and installing the cover and cushion on the Sport. Removing and installing the cover and cushion on the Comfort is identical.






Removing

- Remove the bench seat. Refer to => [ Seat Bench/Single Seat ] Seat Bench/Single Seat.

- Remove the backrest.

- Press the button in the headrest guide and remove the headrest from the backrest.

- Remove the striker pin trim on the back of the backrest - 1 -. It is necessary to unlock the retainers on the side of the trim.

- Pry the clamping profiles - arrows - off the backrest frame - 1 - all the way around with a screwdriver on the back of the backrest - 1 -.

- Fold up the cover - 2 - on the sides.

The illustration shows the attaching the cover - 2 - on the Sport. Attaching the cover on the Comfort is identical. Refer to => [ 1/3-Backrest Cover and Cushion ].

- Remove all the upholstery clips - 5 - on the cover - 2 - from the cushion mounts - 4 -.

- Remove cover - 2 - from upholstery - 3 -.

- Remove the cushion - 3 - from the backrest frame - 1 -.

Guide the cover - 2 - and the cushion - 3 - over the headrest guides.






The illustration shows the attaching the cover - 1 - on the Sport. Attaching the cover on the Comfort is identical. Refer to => [ 1/3-Backrest Cover and Cushion ].

Installation

- Install the cushion - 2 - on the backrest frame.

- Install the cover - 1 - on the cushion - 2 -.

- Attach the cover - 1 - to the cushion - 2 - with new upholstery clips - 4 - at the shown locations - 3 - using the upholstery clip pliers (V.A.G 1634).

- Fold up the cover - 1 - on the sides and attach the clamping profiles to the backrest frame.

- Install the striker pin trim.






Further assembling is in reverse order of removal.

Check all the fasteners for damage and replace if necessary.
