Parking Brake, Adjusting
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Ring spanner insert AF 21 (T10347)
• A new adjustment is necessary only after replacing brake cables, brake calipers or brake discs.
Adjusting:
- Open the cover on the rear storage compartment inside the center console.
- Remove the liner from the storage compartment.
- Release the tabs - arrows - and open the service flap - 1 -.
- Remove the brake cable from the parking brake lever. Refer to => [ Brake Cables on Parking Brake Lever ] Brake Cables on Parking Brake Lever.
- Raise the vehicle.
- Push the brake pedal at least three times with force.
The parking brake lever must go back into the rest position by itself under the first detent.
• Parking brake lever in released position.
- Engage the brake cable. Refer to => [ Brake Cables on Parking Brake Lever ] Brake Cables on Parking Brake Lever.
- Set the parking brake 1 time.
- Release the parking brake.
- Loosen the adjusting screw - 1 - using (T10347).
• The brake cables - 3 - will get tensioned through the quick adjustor - 2 -.
- Tighten the adjusting screw - 1 - using (T10347).
- Pull and loosen the parking brake three times.
- Loosen and tighten the adjusting screw - 1 - using (T10347).
- The distance- a - between the lever - 1 - to the stop - 2 - on the left and right brake calipers may be less than or equal to 1.5 mm together.
- Check whether wheels turn freely.
Due to the automatic rear brake adjuster, there is no need to adjust the parking brake after making initial adjustment.
