Steering Column Switch With KESSY

The removal and installation of individual steering column switch components must be done in a specified sequence. Refer to => [ Steering Column Switch Components, Removal and Installation Sequence ] Steering Column Switch Components, Removal and Installation Sequence.

There are two versions of the steering column combination switch (E595) components, of the steering column electronic systems control module (J527) and of the steering column switch base carrier depending on the manufacturer (Valeo or Kostal). In order to determine which version is installed, check the mounting for the steering column electronic systems control module on the steering column combination switch.

Manufactured by Valeo: 3 bolts.

Manufactured by Kostal: 1 bolt at the bottom and two latching mechanisms at the top.

Code the new electronic steering column lock control module (J764) after installing. Refer to => [ Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764), Coding ] Electronic Steering Column Lock Control Module (J764), Coding.

After installing a new steering column electronics control module (J527) , it must be coded. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronics Control Module (J527), With KESSY, Coding ] Steering Column Electronics Control Module (J527), With KESSY, Coding.

DTC Recognition and Display

The electronic steering column lock control module (J764) has OBD.

Use the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester under "Guided Fault Finding".
