Pyrotechnic Battery Cut-Out






Pyrotechnic Battery Cut-Out

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Read all the Safety Precautions before disconnecting the battery. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic Battery Isolator Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

Follow all guidelines when disposing of battery cut-out units. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic Battery Isolator Disposal ] Pyrotechnic Battery Isolator Disposal.

Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

Remove the key.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and turn the key to the 0 position.

- Remove the service cover - 1 - from the side trim panel - 2 -.






- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.

- Turn the locking mechanism on the main fuse panel - 1 - 90° to the left and fold the cover down.






- Remove the collar nut - 1 - and disconnect the B+ wire - 2 - from the threaded connection.






- Remove the self-locking nut - 4 - and the pyrotechnic battery cut-out - 3 - from the threaded connection. Pay attention to the wires still connected.

- Pull the button - 3 - in direction of arrow and disconnect the connector - 1 -.






- Pull the connector - 1 - in direction of arrow and remove the pyrotechnic battery cut-out - 2 - from the vehicle.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Make sure the connector lock audibly locks into place when connecting the connector to the pyrotechnic battery cut-out.

- Tighten all threaded connections to the tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Pyrotechnic Battery Isolator Overview ] Pyrotechnic Battery Isolator Overview.

- Connect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.
