Ribbed Belt

Removing

Mark the rotation direction of the ribbed belt using chalk or felt tip marker before removing. Running a used belt in the opposite direction could destroy it.

- Disconnect the connectors - 2 and 3 -.






- Remove the bracket - 1 - and move it to the side along with the wiring harness.

Ignore the - arrow -.

- Pivot the tensioner in the - direction of the arrow - using a ratchet with a T60 TORX(R) socket to release the tension from the ribbed belt.






- Remove the ribbed belt from the tensioner.

Installing

Ensure, before installing the ribbed belt, that all ancillaries (alternator, Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor, power steering pump) are secured tightly.

Check the idler pulleys for ease of movement

Note the previously marked belt rotation direction and be sure that it is seated correctly on the pulleys.

- Pivot the tensioner in the - direction of the arrow - using a ratchet with a T60 TORX(R) socket.






- Route the ribbed belt as shown.

After the belt is installed, always perform the following:

- Start the engine and check the belt running.
