Steering Column Switch

Always follow the procedure in the Repair Information when disconnecting the battery. The battery cut-out will be deactivated and damage to the vehicle electrical equipment may occur if the connecting sequence is not followed exactly. Refer to => [ Warnings and Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

• After installing a new Steering column electronics control module (J527) , it must be coded. Refer to => [ Steering Column Electronic Control Module (J527) ] Description and Operation.

• If the steering column switch is faulty, then perform an output diagnostic test for the steering column electronics control module.

DTC Recognition and Display

Steering column electronic systems control module is equipped with On Board Diagnostics (OBD) which assists troubleshooting.

The "Guided Fault Finding" function is to be used for troubleshooting of the systems as described in => [ Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information Systems ] Testing and Inspection.
