Rear Door Panel: Service and Repair
Rear Door Trim
• Removal and installation are described for the left side of the vehicle. Removal and installation for the right side are performed in the same manner.
Removal
- Switch off the ignition.
- Unclip the trim - 1 - from the door trim using the trim removal wedge (3409).
- Unclip the armrest - 2 - starting at the rear using the wedge (T10383/1) and detach from the door trim.
- Disconnect the armrest harness connector.
- Unclip the trim molding - 3 - from the door trim using the wedge (T10383/1).
- Remove the 3 bolts - arrows - (4.5 Nm).
- Remove the bolt - 1 - (2 Nm).
When loosening the door trim, the mounting elements could be damaged. To prevent this, follow the specified location and sequence for the clip connections to be loosened when removing the door trim.
- Remove the door trim in the - specified sequence - from the clip connections using the wedges (T10383).
- Pull the door trim vertically upward out of window channel.
- Disengage the release cable - 1 - from the interior door mechanism on the inside of the door trim.
- Depending on the vehicle equipment, disconnect the wiring harnesses from the door trim.
Installation
- Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
• Before installation, inspect the retaining clips for damage and replace if necessary.
Before installing the door trim, make sure the locking mechanisms of all clip connections are in the - 1 position -.
It is not possible to install the door trim correctly if the clips are in the - 2 position -.
