Coolant Pipes
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
• Hose Clip Pliers (VAS 6362)
Removing
- Remove the engine compartment cover. Refer to => [ Engine Compartment Cover ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the front engine cover - 1 - upward.
- Remove the noise insulation.
Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant.
• The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.
• Cover the coolant expansion tank cap with a cloth and then open it slowly to release the pressure in the system.
- Drain the low temperature coolant circuit. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling, Low Temperature Coolant Circuit ] Draining and Filling, Low Temperature Coolant Circuit.
- Disconnect the coolant hoses - arrows - and remove the upper coolant hose - 1 - from the retainers.
- Remove the bolts - 1 through 3 - from the coolant pipes.
- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove electric drive power and control electronics cover panel - A -.
- Open both quick-release couplings - arrows - and remove the coolant lines.
- Loosen the vacuum pipe - 1 -. Remove the bolt - 2 - and the coolant hoses - arrows -.
- Remove the coolant pipes and hoses downward.
Installing
Installation is carried out in the reverse order while noting the following:
• For the correct tightening specifications, refer to => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Coolant Pipes Overview.
• Secure all hose connections with hose clamps that are specific to that model. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
• Fill the low temperature coolant circuit. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling, Low Temperature Coolant Circuit ] Draining and Filling, Low Temperature Coolant Circuit.
• Install the noise insulation.
