Air Injection Pressure Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection






Secondary Air Injection Combination Valves, Checking for Function and Leaks

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)

Procedure

Vacuum lines and hose connections are not leaking

Vacuum lines are not plugged.

- Remove the engine covers - 1 and 2 - upward.






- Disconnect the vacuum hose - 2 - from the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) solenoid valve to be checked.






- 1 - secondary air injection solenoid valve for bank 1 (right side).

- 2 - secondary air injection solenoid valve 2 for bank 2 (left side).

- Connect the hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) to the vacuum hose for the AIR solenoid valve to be checked.

- Remove the front secondary air hose - arrow - from its bracket and disconnect it; do to so press the release buttons.






- Blow into the hose for the combination valves using light pressure (do not use pressurized air).

The AIR combination valves must be closed. It must not be possible to blow through.

- Operate the hand vacuum pump.

The relevant combination valve must open, it must not be possible to blow through it.

- If the AIR combination valve does not open, replace it, refer to the following:

=> [ Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Left ] Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Left.

=> [ Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Right ] Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Right.

Assembly is performed in the reverse order.
