Air Injection Pressure Sensor/Switch: Testing and Inspection
Secondary Air Injection Combination Valves, Checking for Function and Leaks
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand Vacuum Pump (VAS 6213)
Procedure
• Vacuum lines and hose connections are not leaking
• Vacuum lines are not plugged.
- Remove the engine covers - 1 and 2 - upward.
- Disconnect the vacuum hose - 2 - from the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) solenoid valve to be checked.
- 1 - secondary air injection solenoid valve for bank 1 (right side).
- 2 - secondary air injection solenoid valve 2 for bank 2 (left side).
- Connect the hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) to the vacuum hose for the AIR solenoid valve to be checked.
- Remove the front secondary air hose - arrow - from its bracket and disconnect it; do to so press the release buttons.
- Blow into the hose for the combination valves using light pressure (do not use pressurized air).
• The AIR combination valves must be closed. It must not be possible to blow through.
- Operate the hand vacuum pump.
• The relevant combination valve must open, it must not be possible to blow through it.
- If the AIR combination valve does not open, replace it, refer to the following:
=> [ Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Left ] Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Left.
=> [ Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Right ] Secondary Air Injection Combination Valve, Right.
Assembly is performed in the reverse order.
