Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Counter Hold Tool (10-201)
• Centering Drift (T10442)
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Grease for Clutch Plate Splines (G 000 100)
• Replace the clutch disc and pressure plate if the rivets are damaged or loose.
• Allocate the pressure plate and the clutch disc according to the engine codes using the Parts Catalog.
Removing
Conditions:
• The automatic transmission and the drive motor are removed.
• The clutch mechanism hydraulic line is secured in the installed position with cable ties.
Ensure that the hydraulic line for the clutch release mechanism is not bent. In the case of damage, the line must be replaced.
- Center the clutch disc using the centering drift (T10442).
- Secure the drive plate from twisting using the counter hold tool (10-201).
- Loosen the pressure plate bolts diagonally and in stages.
- Remove the cable ties - arrows -.
- Remove the bolts and remove the pressure plate with the clutch disc.
- Place the pressure plate so that the hydraulic line is not bent.
Installing
Ensure that the hydraulic line for the clutch release mechanism is not bent. In the case of damage, the line must be replaced.
• If a new pressure plate is installed, first remove the transport fastening when the pressure plate is bolted to the drive plate.
- Install the pressure plate with the clutch disc and centering drift (T10442) to the flywheel and secure it. Install the bolts by hand but do not tighten them.
- Secure the drive plate from twisting using the counter hold tool (10-201).
- Secure the hydraulic line for the hydraulic mechanism in the hole - arrow -.
- Use a cable tie to secure the hydraulic line in this position. Remove the transport fastening, if present.
- Beginning with - A -, Tighten the bolts diagonally and in stages until the clutch pressure plate is touching the drive plate.
• The pressure plate contact surface and the clutch disc lining must completely touch the drive plate.
- Tighten the bolts.
- Remove the centering drift (T 10442).
