Access/Start Authorization Button (E408)

The access/start authorization button is inside the front center console next to the selector lever. The button starts and turns off the engine without having to use the key.

Removal

- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and remove the key.

Always follow the procedure in the Repair Information when disconnecting the battery. The battery cut-out will be deactivated and damage to the vehicle electrical equipment may occur if the connecting sequence is not followed exactly. Refer to => [ Warnings and Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Service and Repair.

- Remove selector lever trim.

- Press both tabs - arrows - and move the access/start authorization button - 1 - toward the outside and out of the frame.






Installation

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

• Adaptation or coding of Access/Start Authorization Button after removing and installing is not necessary.
