Digital Sound System Control Module (J525)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Protective Cap For Wiring Harness Connector (VAS 6223/9)

The amplifier and the digital sound system control module are inside the luggage compartment behind the left side trim panel.

If the control module is replaced, select the "Replacement" function for the appropriate control module in "Guided Fault Finding".

Use the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051) or vehicle diagnosis and service system (VAS 5052) for this purpose.

Removing

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers.

- Remove the left side trim panel..

- Remove the noise insulation foam piece - 1 -.






- Remove the bolts - arrows - from the heater/air conditioner housing.






- Move the heat/air conditioner housing in - direction of arrow -. The wire connections and hoses remain connected.






Installed location digital sound system control module (J525) - 1 -.






- Remove the bolts - arrows -.






- Remove the digital sound system control module and mount.

- Disconnect the connector from the amplifier.

- On the RNS 850, install the protective cap for cable connector (VAS 6223/9) on the fiber-optic cable pulled off the digital sound system control module.

Fiber-optic cable is very delicate!

The fiber-optic cable must not be kinked or significantly bent!

The bending radius must never be below 25 mm.

A kinked fiber-optic cable is no longer usable, data transfer via kinked fiber-optic cable is faulty!

Please do not remove the protective caps from the ends of the fiber-optic cable until the fiber-optic cable is connected to the intended unit.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Connect the water drain after installing the heater/air conditioner housing. Perform the following work:

- Remove the storage tray inside the luggage compartment floor panel - arrow -.






- Bend the noise insulation foam block to the side in - direction of arrow -.






- Reach through the opening and connect the hose - arrow - to the heater/air conditioner housing.






When replacing radio navigation system control modules, it is necessary to adapt the replaced control modules to the vehicle. If this is not performed, component protection is activated for these control modules so that they do not work or only on a highly limited basis.
