Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Radio Removal Tool (T10057)
• Removal Wedge (3409)
Removing
- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers.
- Remove the retaining clip in the storage compartment on the instrument panel - arrow -.
- Release the storage compartment and pull up slightly in the - direction of the arrow - until the underlying bolts are visible.
- Unscrew the bolts - arrows - at the front information display control head.
It is necessary to remove the buttons identified by the - arrows -, from the display unit.
- Pry the buttons out carefully in - direction of arrow - using (3409) , as illustrated.
• If any of the buttons get damaged while being removed, they can ordered as a replacement part. Pay attention the replacement part number because there are different versions for different countries.
The slots for the removal tools will be visible once both buttons are removed - arrows -.
- Insert four of the (T10057) into the slots - arrows - until they lock into place. The word TOP, on both the left and right tools, must be facing up.
• Only insert the removal tools into the provided slots on the unit. If not, the circuit board behind the buttons could get damaged.
- Remove the front information display control head from the installation frame - direction of arrow -.
Disconnecting the Connectors
• The number and location of the connections on the unit will vary between the different radios and radio/navigation systems.
- Squeeze the tabs on the multi-pin connector - arrow -.
- Move the retainer in direction of the - arrow -. The connector will be pushed out at the same time.
- Push the retainer - A - onto the audio/video connector and move the mount in direction - B -. The connector will be pushed out at the same time.
- Unlock the antenna connections - arrows - and disconnect the connectors.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Carefully install both buttons.
- Carefully push the radio into the frame until it locks in place.
• Do not press on the display and control buttons of the radio with force during assembly.
When replacing radio system control modules, it is necessary to adapt the replaced control modules to the vehicle. If this is not performed, component protection is activated for these control modules so that they do not work or only on a highly limited basis.

- Make sure the buttons that were removed earlier, work correctly.
