Backrest

• The following describes removing and installing on the left side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the right side is identical.

Removing

- Remove seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Remove the belt latch. Refer to => [ Front Belt Latches ] Front Belt Latches.

- Remove the trim on the tunnel side. Refer to => [ Tunnel Side Trim ] Tunnel Side Trim

- Remove the trim on the door sill side. Refer to=> [ Door Sill Side Trim ] Door Sill Side Trim.

- Disconnect the wiring harness connectors for the backrest and expose the disconnected wiring harnesses.

• The wiring harness between the connection point and the side airbag is continuous. When removing the backrest, the wiring harness must be pulled out of the fabric hose under the seat frame.

- Unscrew the bolts - 1 -, - 2 -, - 3 - and - 4 -.

- Remove the backrest.






Installing the left seat

- Install the backrest on the seat.

The bolts may only be used once. Therefore, use new bolts during installation.

- Tighten the bolts - 1 -, - 2 -, - 3 - and - 4 - by hand.

- Bolt the backrest to the seat in the installation sequence - 3 -, - 2 -, - 1 - and - 4 -. Tightening specification: (33 + / - 3.0 Nm).






Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following:

• Make sure the electrical connectors are pushed in as far as the stop and that they engage audibly.

Installing the right seat

- Install the backrest on the seat.

The bolts may only be used once. Therefore, use new bolts during installation.

- Tighten the bolts - 1 -, - 2 -, - 3 - and - 4 - by hand.

- Bolt the backrest to the seat in the installation sequence - 2 -, - 3 -, - 4 - and - 1 -. Tightening specification: (33 + / - 3.0 Nm).
