Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair
Engine Temperature Control Sensor G694
• The engine temperature control sensor is installed between the intake manifold and the generator in the cylinder head.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hex Ball Socket (T10058)
• M8 x 50 Bolt
Removing
- Use a suitable wrench to rotate the tensioner in the - direction of the arrow -.
- Screw a M8 x 50 bolt - A - into the threaded hole in the tensioner.
- Remove the belt tensioner bolts - arrows -.
- Disconnect the engine temperature control sensor connector and expose the wire.
- Remove the bolt for the engine temperature control sensor using the hex ball socket (T10058).
- Pull the engine temperature control sensor out of the cylinder head and remove it toward the front.
The O-ring and the support washer can get stuck in the cylinder head. Check whether the engine temperature control sensor is complete.
- The following components must be present on the engine temperature control sensor.
1. Support washer
2. O-ring
• If the O-ring and the support washer are stuck in the cylinder head, they must be pulled out with a wire. For this purpose bend a wire approximately 1.5 mm that is slightly bent at the end.
Installing
- Lubricate the O-ring with coolant additive.
- Place the engine temperature control sensor in the installed position and press it into the cylinder head with a suitable tool.
Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
• Tightening specification for the engine temperature control sensor bolt: 5 Nm.
