Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair






Engine Temperature Control Sensor G694

The engine temperature control sensor is installed between the intake manifold and the generator in the cylinder head.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hex Ball Socket (T10058)

M8 x 50 Bolt

Removing

- Use a suitable wrench to rotate the tensioner in the - direction of the arrow -.






- Screw a M8 x 50 bolt - A - into the threaded hole in the tensioner.

- Remove the belt tensioner bolts - arrows -.






- Disconnect the engine temperature control sensor connector and expose the wire.

- Remove the bolt for the engine temperature control sensor using the hex ball socket (T10058).






- Pull the engine temperature control sensor out of the cylinder head and remove it toward the front.

The O-ring and the support washer can get stuck in the cylinder head. Check whether the engine temperature control sensor is complete.

- The following components must be present on the engine temperature control sensor.

2. O-ring


If the O-ring and the support washer are stuck in the cylinder head, they must be pulled out with a wire. For this purpose bend a wire approximately 1.5 mm that is slightly bent at the end.

Installing

- Lubricate the O-ring with coolant additive.

- Place the engine temperature control sensor in the installed position and press it into the cylinder head with a suitable tool.

Further installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Tightening specification for the engine temperature control sensor bolt: 5 Nm.
