Fill Quality, Checking

Fill Quality, Checking

It is necessary to check the coolant concentration to determine if there is air in the coolant system.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Cooling System Tester (V.A.G 1274 B)

Adapter (V.A.G 1274/8)

- Open the coolant expansion tank cap.

- Install the cooling system tester (V.A.G 1274 B) with the adapter (V.A.G 1274/8) onto the expansion tank.

- Generate approximately 1 bar pressure using the cooling system tester hand pump.

- Check the coolant level inside the tank.

There are no leaks in the coolant system if the coolant level goes down by only a maximum of 25 mm. If the level goes down significantly or if the coolant evaporates from the tank, this means there are air bubbles in the coolant system.

Coolant Level is OK

- Perform a road test until the engine operating temperature is reached.

- Check the coolant level.

The Coolant Level Significantly Goes Down

- Drain the coolant system. Refer to => [ Coolant System, Draining ] Coolant System, Draining.

- Fill the coolant system. Refer to => [ Coolant, Filling ] Coolant, Filling.

- Check the fill quality again.
