Ribbed Belt

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

M8 x 50 Bolt

Removing

- Mark the running direction of the ribbed belt.

- Rotate the belt tensioner in the - direction of the arrow - using a suitable wrench.






- Install a M8 X 50 bolt - A - into the threaded hole in the tensioner, thereby securing the tensioner.

Only screw in the bolt so far, until the ribbed belt can be removed, otherwise the housing of the tensioner can be damaged.

- Remove the ribbed belt.

Installing

Ensure, before installing the ribbed belt, that all ancillaries (generator, Air Conditioning (A/C) compressor, power steering pump) are secured tightly.

Check that idler roller turns easily.

If installing the old belt, note the previously marked direction of belt rotation and be sure that it is seated correctly on the pulleys.

- Route the ribbed belt and remove the M8 x 50 bolt from the tensioner.






When finished, always perform the following work:

- Start the engine and check the belt running.
